Derby attire is beginning to be considered and one of the biggest and first evening events related to the Kentucky Derby season is rapidly approaching: the 14th Annual Wellspring Derby Preview Party. The event will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from 5:30 to 9:00 pm on Millionaires Row 4th Floor at Churchill Downs. A sell-out crowd of 500 guests is anticipated for this “signature event” of the Derby season. John Asher will join in as the master of ceremonies, and handicapper Bill Doolittle will offer “insider” tips for Derby day. Guests will have an opportunity to bid on live and silent auction items including Derby and sports memorabilia, premier tickets to the track and other sports venues, custom-made Derby hats, art, collectables, and more. Feature items in the auction line-up this year include:
Oaks & Derby Day Boxes
South African Photo Safari
5-Night stay in Le Montreux Palace – Lake Geneva, Switzerland
“Fighter Pilot” for a day experience
North Carolina mountains home retreat
By popular demand, speed artist extraordinaire, Aaron Kizer, returns to wow the audience with his large-scale, high-energy dramatic portrait painting – completing an incredible work of art in just 10 minutes. All that, while enjoying unlimited cocktails and a custom menu from the Chef’s lavish fare. It definitely makes for an evening not to be missed. Special Sponsorship packages are available. Tickets are $160, or tables of eight for $1,200 and may be purchased in advance by contacting Nancy Doctor at (502) 753-1453 or Melissa Kratzer
