Mayor celebrates LouisvilleKY’s SummerWorks 2018 success

Louisville, KY., – From computer coding to manufacturing and life-guarding to public finance, a record number of young people — 6,200 — gained new skills and confidence working at businesses and job sites throughout Louisville this summer as part of the SummerWorks program. Mayor Fischer congratulated youth and thanked the many private sector and non-profit employers who hired youth ages 16-21. LouisvilleKY’s Coalition for the Homeless and Partners launch new program

  Louisville, KY (January 5, 2017) – The fastest rising group of the homeless population, both locally and nationwide, are young adults age 18-24. From 2008 to 2009, 2009 to 2010, and again from 2010 to 2011, the number of homeless young adults in Louisville doubled, reaching a peak of 562 in 2013. In 2015, 418 young adults age 18-24 were living in adult emergency shelter or on the streets, plus an additional 450 youth below the age of 18 were served by YMCA Safe Place Services of Louisville. Louisville’s YouthBuild to Help Restore Hogan’s Fountain

Louisville, Ky., — Citizens working to save and restore the Hogan’s Fountain Pavilion in Cherokee Park, a designated Louisville Local Landmark, are pleased to announce their collaboration with YouthBuild Louisville for the final stage of the structure’s restoration. YouthBuild students, under the tutelage of a master stone mason, will repair the pavilion’s deteriorated stone piers, with work scheduled to begin on May 12. The grassroots group, Save Hogan’s Fountain Pavilion (SHFP) opted to further the restoration efforts for the landmark when funds remained from monies raised to pay for the structure’s new roof, completed in December 2013.
