Royal Wedding Parties, Mawwage, and Fairy Tales.

I left the Frazier Museum party just as William and Kate arrived at Buckingham Palace, thinking that I’d rush home and write up a story about the morning’s events for you lovely readers. Of course, once I got home, with the TV on, patiently awaiting their balcony kiss, I decided being alone was lame — David had to go to work because apparently the price for American freedom means we don’t get to observe the Queen’s holidays — and that I needed to run by the home of some Welsh friends, whom I was sure were still partying. Then I…

Royal Wedding at the Frazier Museum

It’s Royal Wedding week! Everyone excited? Yeah … I know how you feel. Not only have I been failing in my goal to become obsessed with the Royal Wedding, but lately I’ve been failing at becoming obsessed with my own wedding. It’s not that I’m not excited. I’ve just had way too much other stuff going on lately. In a few weeks, I’ll be heading to Europe for a music tour, and my life has been spent on the details of that trip. But seeing as my first stop on the tour is Manchester, England, I figure I should try…

Wedding: Advice on Slashing the Guest List.

At first I was pretty miffed when I didn’t receive an invitation to the Royal Wedding, but now, having tortured myself over my own guest list for months, I understand. Kate, don’t worry … we’re still cool. I know that your Prince has a huge list of folks he’s obligated to invite — other princes, dukes, Elton John, etc. Also, y’all are older than your average couple, which means you’ve met lots more people. Keeping your list limited to 2000 must be about as hard as it is to keeping ours to, um, well let’s just say way-smaller-than-average. Between my…

“The Dress” begins its tortuous grasp upon me.

“Wedding, wedding, wedding, wedding, wedding.” That’s pretty much the topic of conversation these days, whether we like it or not. What surprises me, however, is how very few people have asked me what I’m wearing, other than my gutter-minded friends who have repeatedly asked, “Are you wearing white? Lolz lol.” (Not funny.) I guess I sort of expected the dress to be a hot topic, considering that’s all that bridal magazines talk about. It’s been a good thing for me, however, because I am not at all obsessed with The Dress. At a bridal show last week, I was reminded…

Deep thoughts on the Royal Wedding… again.

Back in January, I declared I was going to try to get really into the Royal Wedding. I’ve not been very good about this, mostly because I don’t read magazines or gossip blogs. Thus, when a special about William and Kate appeared on TV earlier this week, I forced myself to watch it. You may be laughing, but it really took a lot of effort to maintain my interest. You see, I used to produce cable documentaries for a living, so I have a lot of trouble sitting through them now. My thoughts aren’t of the Royal drama, but of…

Bring it on Prince William

Embarrassing Groom confession number 3 – last night I watched a show about the Royal Wedding.  Brigid has been threatening to get “really into” the Royal Wedding for a while now, and last night we took the plunge together (rather appropriate maybe?). It was interesting.  I’ve always felt a kinship with the future King.  We’re both named William and we’re about the same age.  It sort of seemed like we grew up together.  While he was at the fancy boarding school where he had to wear a tuxedo everyday, I went through my “alternative” phase wearing argyle socks with shorts. …
