  Louisville, KY. –The Kentucky Derby Festival is combining nostalgia and a familiar social media trend for the 2018 Republic Bank Pegasus Parade set for Thursday, May 3rd. The theme of this year’s event will be “#ThrowbackThursday.” Traditionally held on the Thursday of Derby week since 1956, the parade is the Festival’s oldest and inaugural event. Different themes have been chosen each year to help guide the decorations and music used by the participants. “This year’s theme was inspired by all the energy and creativity that’s gone into the production of our parade since it started,” said Mike Berry, KDF President & CEO….

Registration is now open for LouisvilleKy’s 2018 Pegasus Parade

Louisville, KY. – The Kentucky Derby Festival is looking for participants for next year’s Republic Bank Pegasus Parade. 2018 marks the 63rd annual parade, which will march down Broadway on Thursday, May 3. The application process for groups interested in participating in the parade opens online today.   The Festival is looking for participants in the following categories: Equestrians, Specialty Unit, Marching Band, Inflatable and Float. Parade Participation Guidelines and Applications can be downloaded at KDF.org/PegasusParade. The application deadline is January 31, 2018. Louisville, KY.  – The skies cleared just in time for the 60th Republic Bank Pegasus Parade to march down Broadway this evening.  A crowd estimated at 185,000 gathered downtown to watch the Kentucky Derby Festival’s oldest and inaugural event.  Themed the ‘Best of Louisville,’ this year’s parade celebrated the city and paid tribute to the community that has supported the Derby Festival for 60 years. Festival fans can get a special preview of this week’s parade at the Republic Bank Pegasus Parade Preview Party tomorrow at the Kentucky Exposition Center in South Wing C. 2015 marks the 60th annual parade, which will feature approximately 100 units marching down Broadway on Thursday, April 30.  Each parade float and inflatable will be on display, complete with costumed characters, as well as equestrian units.
