Louisville Ky author gets a big banner

Louisville, Ky., – Famed Louisville mystery writer Sue Grafton can now be seen by anyone driving downtown. Local news outlets report that the banner, located on the Springhill Suites/Fairfield Inn hotels is already up and ready for its official dedication Wednesday, April 20th. The black and white image of the author of “A is for Alibi” and a host of other novels joins a host of other Louisvillians who have made their mark on the world including Muhammad Ali, Pat Day, Tori Murden and others. From Any Angle, this Derby was Tremendous

From the Red Carpet, to Millionaire’s Row, to the Paddock, to the Grandstand, to the brand new terrace above the Starting Gate, this was a Derby for which there are not enough superlatives. No, we didn’t have the 5-17 exacta, because as always there’s a horse that crashes the party (Commanding Curve, really?).  The favorite proved worthy of its hype. Finally Some Love for Jockeys

There’s no group that’s more overlooked during the Derby party season than the short, strong men who ride the horses around the track. That’s why I was glad to see the Galt House is organizing the inaugural Night of Silk Derby Party on Derby Night to raise money for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.  They had a press conference this week, at which Pat Day spoke, and announced that the new event has some impressive sponsors, a great dance band and an auction that I bet will have better horse-related items than any other.  The $375 ticket price, considering that…
