Louisville’s Big 12 Hopes Aren’t Dead Yet

What  a difference 24 hours can make. In what has been the most dramatic episode yet in the Conference Realignment drama; the New York Times reported today that West Virginia University’s bid to the Big 12 has been put “on hold.” This all comes the day after everyone was saying that the Mountaineers were guaranteed to replace fleeing Missouri, and Louisville would be out in the cold. The brightest spot for Cards fans: West Virginia officials, who called the deal “solid” late Tuesday afternoon, declined comment Wednesday. “I think it’s 50-50 right now between West Virginia and Louisville,” one of the people…

One of the best nods to our little/big city by the river in print past was Michael Washburn’s “36 Hours in Louisville, Ky” published March 31, 2011 in the coveted Travel section of the New York Times. This pre-Derby buzz is only a taste of a life enriched by journalism and appreciation of literary culture for the Brooklyn resident.  The Louisville native, Atherton graduate  and former U of L student has thrived after transplanting in New York City. Life In Louisville Goes On

OK, so let’s get on with Derby season. I was in the throng at the St. Matthews Molly Malone’s Saturday night, where the letdown after DeAndre Liggins shot clanged off the rim was palpable.
