The Cardinals are slated to face Mississippi State in the national semifinal on Friday night in Columbus, Ohio, and we need your help in sending this historic team off in style. Lady Cards Bow Out to Gonzaga, 76-69

  After digging themselves an early hole, the Cardinals weren’t able to claw back to overtake the Bulldogs in their Sweet 16 matchup. In a home game for Gonzaga, Louisville wasn’t able to find its stride until the second half. Freshman Shoni Schimmel, the proclaimed female Jimmer Fredette, missed 12 of her first 13 shots and couldn’t find her groove until late in the game. Schimmel and Lady Cards Stun Xavier, 85-75

Shoni Shimmel is the Jimmer Fredette of Women’s Hoops. The freshman phenom Shimmel had a career high 33 points to lead the Cardinals to their third ever NCAA Sweet 16.  Louisville stormed back in the final eight minutes of the game, holding Xavier to five minutes without a field goal. The Lady Cards even forced six turnovers in six straight Musketeer possessions. Schimmel’s effort was the coming out party for Louisville’s latest superstar.
