The Price of Murdering Your Own Baby

Louisville Woman, Jessica Price,  accused of birthing her baby in the restroom of a Kohl’s department store and disposing of the child in a garbage can was placed under house arrest until her trial. Judge Olu Stevens, a well known Judge in Louisville, granted the bond reduction. Stevens said he allowed the motion because Price is indigent and has no prior criminal history. Price is now under home incarceration and she will ironically serve it at her parent’s home in Shepherdsville. Judge Stevens also ordered Price to stay away from children, as well as take her prescribed medication and…

Princess of Sylmar

The Long-Shot “Princess of Sylmar” ran amazingly to win the $1 million Kentucky Oaks on Friday at Churchill Downs. She is one of four fillies trained by Todd Pletcher and this 38-1 horse upstaged the 3-2 favorite Dreaming of Julia. This puts Pletcher in the mix for a weekend sweep Saturday in the Kentucky Derby, where he has a record-tying five entries – including Verrazano. A slow starting Dreaming of Julia lagged behind before recovering in the stretch to finish fourth. By then, Princess of Sylmar was amazing a crowd of 113,820 with her third win in four starts this…

Pitino’s without the Fab Five in New Orleans

After Louisville won the 2013 championship the NCAA Coach Rick Pitino told the media they were denied a chance to go and support the Women’s Team by the NCAA, who cited it as an extra benefit. After that, it looked like the team would be forced to watch the game on their campus. Then, after much pressure, the NCAA said it was prepared to help the team get there. So Pitino and his staff flew to New Orleans on Tuesday, but without the team that won the National Championship the day before. Although the team wanted to support the school’s…

Russdiculous Transfers away from Pitino

Russ leaves Pitino   Rick Pitino’s 3-year-old colt honoring Russ Smith, Louisville’s favorite basketball player was dropped in for a maiden $30,000 claiming race at Santa Anita Thursday. The $145,000 auction purchase last year finished second and was claimed out of the race for the $30,000. Louisville found a different way to lose at Notre Dame!

Spoiler alert……….Louisville Lost! After losing by 10 points or more in its three games since 2007, including an overtime loss two years ago, the Cardinals squandered an eight-point lead in the final minute of regulation before losing 104-101 in five overtimes Saturday night. Louisville coach Rick Pitino said it was a typical Notre Dame-Louisville game as it marked the sixth time in the last eight meetings that the game went beyond regulation. But it had never gone more than two overtimes, going that long twice previously. The game turned out to be the longest game in Big East regular-season…

B is for Burglar

Did you hear that Larry Bisig, resident of Bonnycastle, is starting an email and text messaging service in an effort to ‘disseminate information about public safety in the area?’ He says that it is prompted by  a recent increase in burglaries in this Louisville area and that he needs other residents to join him to be successful. He’s also distributing stickers that have the letter “B” on them — for ‘Bonnycastle’ (or Bisig!) but really anyone in the Highlands area is welcome to have them, he said. The idea is that  residents and vendors put them on their cars….and here is…

Louisville temperature set to drop to 14 degrees

Powerful storms rolled through Louisville early Wednesday, waking myself, my family and most of the city with the sound of sirens. At one point, Louisville was under a tornado warning for about 30 minutes that expired at 4:55 a.m. One of the worst places to have been hit was Elizabeth, Indiana, where powerful winds heavily damaged several buildings, including a barn on a farm that’s been owned by the same family for 200 years. As far as I can tell no one was injured. But the new story is going to be the temperature: Tonight the weather is set to drop…
