2015 LouisvilleKY Highlights with Photos from Bill Brymer

One of the best things that happened for LouisvilleKY.com and the Rusty Satellite Show in 2015 was the start of a partnership with local photographer Bill Brymer. We had quite an adventure, visiting with important people all over town. Bill does great work – as you can see – and does freelance work for many local clients, including Actors Threatre and General Electric. Fortunately for us, he does some great work for us. Here’s to many more great pics in 2016

The WEEK says Happy Thanksgiving Louisville KY!

Happy Turkey Day Louisvillians! Here’s some news, and a podcast, and Paul Thorn’s ode to family as we remember that, you know, we’ve got it pretty good around here. There’s plenty of tidbits for you from Rusty Satellite alumni and local media folks: Owen Rides Off: Metro Councilman Tom Owen told me it wouldn’t take him long to decide, and one week after his Rusty Satellite Show appearance the 76-year-old Louisville legend said he’s not up for another election, prompting a lot of Highlands residents to think about running. Happy Trails to Tom. Janelle Chooses Family: WAVE-TV’s anchor Janelle MacDonald…

LouisvilleKY.com is just the best, y’all, according to LEO Readers

Thanks.  Thanks so much. You must really love us. We may not be the prettiest. We’re not giving you late-breaking scoops. Our traffic isn’t great. The posts aren’t frequent. But LouisvilleKY.com was voted once again by Louisville readers of LEO Weekly to the top spot in two categories: Best Local Blog and Best Local Website. So, if you’re a writer or a wanna-be writer and want to publish your stuff on the #1 site in the city, get in touch and we’ll get you set up.

TGIF Local Lunch Post – Feedback is Delicious! Vote for Vittles!

For almost two years, I’ve enjoyed throwing together some food for thought as it pertains to grabbing lunch on Friday.  Ideally, readers will take and share suggestions for the midday meal and continue to support local independent restaurants, groceries, growers, and events throughout the week. This column grew from a Facebook post in early 2011, starting as a friendly suggestion for lunch before heading into the weekend. A year later it moved to Rick Redding’s LouisvilleKY.com, giving  TGIF Local Lunch Post a new home and  a nice boost, hopefully attracting  new readers very week. For past columns, check out this…

Forecastle Festival preview: An interview with Kentucky’s Sleeper Agent is forthcoming

Well we’re only a few days out from Forecastle Festival X right here in good ole’ Louisville, Kentucky. The midwest’s music, art and activism mecca will be going down on Louisville’s Waterfront Park, and you can bet your ass I’ll be going gonzo all weekend long. So, I’m sitting here assembling my little hit list for the festival so I can recap what I think ought to be recapped about the who, the what and the why. Of course, on that list are Kentucky-based bands out the ass. Why? Because that’s just what I seem to obsess over in my little so-called music journalistic endeavors. Ken-fuckin-tucky…

I’m humbled. LEO Readers voted LouisvilleKY.com the best local website, best local blog and voted me the best feature writer. Our own star, Cindy Lamb, was 2nd choice for that category. This is NOT a LouisvilleKY.com Test

Notice anything different this morning? No? Well we have taken the “Beta” tag off the masthead here at LouisvilleKY.com, so no more using the “we’re just in Beta” excuse for any shortcomings on the site.  We’ve been tinkering with things for about 6 weeks, so it’s about time, right? On Friday, several of us went down to Browning’s on a beautiful evening and had a few beers. Thanks to everyone from the team who joined me: Cindy Lamb, Angela Champion, Brigid Kaelin, David Caldwell, Holly Brockman Johnson, Kirk Kandle (who arrived, of course, on his bike), Jeff Schneider and our…

And Some LouisvilleKY.com News

If this site were a person, we’d be wearing onesies and have just gotten home from the hospital. So please bear with us as we continue to make improvements. And thanks for stopping by, Louisville (too much “Anchorman” over the weekend). One of the improvements is the calender you see to the right. I’m picking and choosing events worth mentioning there, so if you want your event up there, get in touch with me. You can also expect to see more new writers making their initial posts on LouisvilleKY.com, as the site is continuing to grow in variety, quality and…
