GLI Chief Calls For Uniting Rural and Urban Kentuckians

From GLI’s Kent Oyler… “We See You; Do You See Us?” That was the profound quote from former Kentucky Governor Paul Patton as he discussed Kentucky’s urban-rural divide at the recent Leadership Louisville Best of Leadership Summit. Wow! We See You; Do You See Us? Those words should be a wakeup call for those of us in urban areas that have for years grumbled about the export of capital and political power to the rest of the state. Whether it is “fair” or not, the reality is that the balance of political power, and the accompanying share of the state’s…

From Kent Oyler, GLI The 2015 General Assembly session has ended and a meager handful of legislation has made its way to the Governor’s desk. It’s called equity crowdfunding and previously it was only open to the one percenters; those proverbial ‘certified rich guys’ who qualified as accredited investors. With responsible restrictions and protections, HB76 opens the investing game game to everyone…

Greater Louisville Inc. Urging Members to Contact Legislators on Key Issues

GLI is asking its members to contact legislators as the 2015 Session nears its end. It wants action on the “Beer Bill”, LIFT, and giving school superintendents more power. From GLI: Support Sen. Raque Adams’ amendment to HB 168  House Bill 168, as passed by the Kentucky House, is a forced divestiture of a good corporate citizen, sending a terrible signal to other out-of-state companies who might be interested in investing in Kentucky. Please support Sen. Raque Adams’ amendment which would protect current jobs and promote fairness, equality, and property rights in Kentucky’s beer distribution system. It protects Anheuser-Busch employees in…
