Figuring Things Out with Joe Elliott

The big topic during my conversation with Joe Elliott on WGTK-AM today was several of the ways that our government officials have been failing us, and how if we were in charge, we’d save taxpayers a lot of money. The news broke during my visit that Gov. Steve Beshear has, in reaction to State Sen. David Williams ending the state session early, decided to recall legislators for a special session. At a cost of, Joe said, at least $68K a day. This after we taxpayers have spent $1.5 million for them to pass no meaningful legislation the last two months….

No End in Sight for (Judy) Green News

No paper today? For you folks still getting the actual newspaper delivered to your home, that technology apparently failed again today. So you might as well go online for your news. Here’s some: More Heat For Green: One noteworthy story in today’s paper details how Judy Green is getting some more heat, this time from Councilman Jim King, who wants the Ethics Commission to expand its investigation. Know Your Local News Types

Let’s have a news quiz. See if you can tell why each person is in the news: Judy Green: After LEO’s scathing story last week, Green has been investigated by every local media outlet, and the Courier-Journal turned up even more batshit crazy activities in a follow-up story on Sunday. Madeline Abramson: The former First Lady…

Time for Green To Get Cleaned Out of Office

And some of us in the media thought Metro Councilwoman Judy Green was simply guilty of setting up a sham company in order to pay her relatives with government money. That may be true, but it’s really only a small part of the story with Green. You should check out Phillip Bailey’s excellent reporting in LEO this week, which reveals several embarrassing facts, including: Green may have lied about losing tickets to a special event at the Yum! Center, got replacements, then may have arranged for her assistant to use the original lost tickets. The assistant, Andrea Jackson, at first…

Adjusting to a City Without Strippers

U of L’s Wednesday game got top billing on ESPN last night, and the Cards showed future opponents how to beat them — denying the three and playing intense, hand-in-your-face defense.  Check out Gabe’s piece.  Not mentioned during the game broadcast: Karen Sypher, who seems, maybe, to have run out of rope and will be sentenced tomorrow.  Experts say she goes to the pokey for 5 years, minimum. Unhappy in Overalls: Fox41 found some farmers willing to go on camera to complain about Louisville’s new no-nudity ordinance.  300,000 people here for the Farm Machinery Show. Quote from a guy in…
