LouisvilleKY’s THE WEEK: Catching the Christmas Spirit Out on the Town

‘Tis the season for holiday parties, right? I’ve mentioned a few over at EatDrinkTalk, but it’s only scratching the surface. As Caroline Knop mentioned when she was guest c0-hosting the Rusty Satellite Show this week, this weekend provides a rare opportunity to get discounted tickets to the Feb. 18 Tailspin Ale Fest, arguably the most popular of the city’s beer-inspired gatherings. You can get the tix Friday and Saturday at Liquor Barns in Middletown and Elizabethown. In my world, Paula has already completed her Christmas shopping, she says, while I’ve yet to buy the first present. But yesterday I…

LouisvilleKY’s THE WEEK — New Ranking, New Restaurant and Plenty to Do

Most of us really enjoyed the city’s first week in the Top 5 of college football, cranking up the volume on activities as the calendar signaled that autumn is here. I saw the Showtime series, “A Season With Florida State Football” and loved seeing how Jimbo Fisher and his bunch reacted to losing. It was interesting to see the Seminoles go through a practice at Waterfront Park in the pre game and enter into Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, where they were as surprise as fans were that the Cards put a 63-20 pounding on them. LouisvilleKY’s THE WEEK: a Crash, the Speed, a Roasted DJ, Champs with Cocktails

My lowlight of the week was this — driving on Watterson Trail in stop-and-go traffic, a woman in an SUV slammed into my rear bumper. I was unhurt, but the damage will require a body shop stay for my car and, thus, no ridesharing earnings for a while. On the brighter side, it was a tremendous week — the first Cocktails with Champions at O’Shea’s Irish Pub was an astounding success, I got to see parts of the new Speed Museum and met Ghislain D’Humieres, and spent a fun hour with ARTxFM’s Marianne Zickuhr and Lauren Argo.  HEAR ALL THAT…

Boo! Join the Fest on Bardstown Road Saturday

If you haven’t heard about the Bardstown Road BooFest, either here, or on Rusty Satellite, or on the many TV appearances coordinated by my friend Caroline Knop, you’re just not paying attention. Check out this clip from WHAS-TV, which features Caroline along with ex-Rusty guests Terry Meiners, Todd Moore and Ingrid Hernandez. The BooFest starts Saturday at Noon, and is a great opportunity for the kids, and you, to put on that costume and get out in public. The 12-year-0ld event occurs in the Highlands, centered on the Mid-City Mall, with costume contests for kids and adults.
