LouisvilleKY’s THE WEEK: In a Tailspin with EatDrinkTalk and Rusty Satellite

Some pre-Tailspin fun with organizer Tisha Gainey at Bowman FieldSome pre-Tailspin fun with organizer Tisha Gainey at Bowman Field

If you didn’t get a ticket at one of the many pre-Tailspin events held around town, you may be out of luck. But if you are going to the Tailspin Ale Fest at Bowman Field Saturday, come by and let me pour you a beer. I’ll be a volunteer beer filler upper at the 4th annual Winter Warmer, along with my EatDrinkTalk partner Steve Coomes.

TailspinAleFest_2017_ColorLogoHere’s a story from EDT about it.

Speaking of EDT, this week’s podcast is a tasty one, and includes my interview with Chef Ellen Gill McCarty, and Michael Beckmann, talking about Das Meal, a five-course beer-paired feast coming to Science Hill Inn in Shelbyville Feb. 23. You can get a $70 ticket online.

Steve’s guest is New Albany operator Ian Hall, the force behind Brooklyn and the Butcher and The Exchange, two of the restaurants helping to make crossing the bridge palatable.

Now I know I promise, every week, to introduce you to the “most interesting people in the ‘Ville.” But Diana Dinicola is REALLY interesting. A student of the arts, she first came to Louisville from Northwestern University

Diana Dinicola

Diana Dinicola

as an intern at Stage One Theatre. Later, she did PR for the Louisville Ballet and the Opera. But she wasn’t satisfied with just art as a career choice, so she went to Atlanta, got a business degree, and ended up as a partner in Studio Kremer, one of the city’s most successful architectural firms.

Diana also finds time to run a Clifton studio offering the region’s only Flamenco dance classes, and performs frequently at area events, including a monthly show at Cafe Classico on Frankfort Ave. You’ll want to hear what she has to say to me.

Of course, Erin Fowler is equally interesting – the VP of Events at Kosair Charities has enjoyed a rapid corporate climb in four years after leaving the Jeffersontown Chamber.

But what you’ll find most interesting is my guest co-host, Diane Williamson, the voice behind OnStar. Diane operates her own voice-over business in Indiana, and provides the wonderful lead-ins for this show. But it turns out that when she was a guest on Show #7 back in August 2013, she was on her way to meet the man she would quickly fall in love with. And it so happen it was also within a week of the time I met the lovely Paula for the first time. Listen in for some other odd coincidences we discovered.
