Site Selection magazine also names Kentucky as top state for business creation

LOUISVILLE, KY (March 8, 2016) – The Louisville metro area has earned another Top 10 ranking for economic development and job creation from a leading national publication thanks to a slate of business investments and company expansions in 2015.

Louisville placed seventh in Site Selection Magazine’s ranking of top tier metro areas with populations over one million – that is up two spots from last year to add to a new all-time high ranking on this list.

“Site Selection’s ranking further recognizes Louisville’s mission to add jobs and produce results,” Mayor Greg Fischer said. “While there still is room to improve, local, regional, national and international companies are truly recognizing that Louisville is a place to do business and to bring their employees.”

In 2015, Louisville secured 62 business development projects, which signified more than 5,400 new jobs and $1.9 billion in investment.

Significant projects announced in Louisville last year included:

  • Ford Motor Company, plans to invest $1.3 billion and add 2,000 jobs
  • Groupo Antolin Primera Automotive, plans to invest $13.7 million and 200 jobs
  • GE, plans to invest $100 million and add 250 jobs
  • Capture LLC, plans to invest $560,000 and add 180 jobs
  • Koch Filter Corporation, plans to invest $7.1 million and add 160 jobs

The strong local growth was part of a record year for the state as Site Selection also awarded back-to-back top honors to Kentucky as the top state for new and expanded industry activity.
