Louisville Ky bridge and construction work can’t be blamed for Thunder traffic tomorrow

CLEARING THE WAY FOR THUNDER

No work and no new closures Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  – With hundreds of thousands of people expected in Downtown Louisville and Southern Indiana on Saturday for Thunder Over Louisville, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Walsh Construction want to make the trip as easy as possible for the large crowds.
The air show and fireworks display will mean a brief break in activity for crews working on the Downtown Crossing portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project.  No construction work and no new overnight closures are scheduled for Saturday.
Crews with Walsh Construction have been working this week to wrap up as many activities as possible, move equipment when feasible and open additional streets to traffic.
 kennedy bridge construction
Although crews are suspending construction Saturday, multiple areas along the shoreline in Downtown Louisville and Southern Indiana remain active work zones and are off-limits.
Private security personnel, along with the heightened police presence throughout the area, will be monitoring the fenced-off areas of construction.  With extensive construction activity underway, entering one of these areas poses a risk to trespassers. Signage is posted.
