Louisville should have this…

As someone in development (the proper term for being a fundraiser), I am always curious and excited by unique concepts, especially ones that can be used to benefit a charity (see my earlier post on the upcoming Bacon Ball for LVAA). So, when stumbling upon this big city concept of Pop-Up Restaurants, I was intrigued. I had to do some research – here and here, and oh here, too. I believe we have enough foodies and do-gooders for this to happen in Louisville. But, like the struggles that Food Truck businesses have had, would our fair city let this be Possible….

A Dish Worth Fighting Over

There aren’t many dishes that are worth fighting over. Usually if your S.O. and you both crave something you just get two (or three!). After all this is the land of plenty. Houston, We Have Your Cliches

I watched three late local newscasts last night, and wondered what would have filled the time if it weren’t for UK’s big victory in Newark and the Bellarmine victory celebration on Sunday morning. Red Hog Tapas Satisfy!

Last night, my cohabitante Sarah and I decided not to slave in the kitchen, but to venture out. We’re very well acquainted with the abundant assortment of excellent eateries within walking distance of our Crescent Hill home, but I decided to surprise Sarah by trying something new. I noticed that Red Hog Tapas open only on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Perfect timing. We passed on seeing an early showing of the movie “Limitless,” only to find that Red Hog’s tapas menu could be similarly headlined. But wait, there’s more – a separate sheet of Red Hog Specials. And an amazing assortment of very reasonably priced wines and draught and bottled beers.

Lights Out on Shelbyville Not a Media Story

We were in the 4th frame at Ten Pin Lanes last night when all of  a sudden, the place went dark. The loud din of pins crashing stopped. Emergency lights came on. And the Monday Night Men’s Bowling League was done for the night.  Outside, businesses up and down Shelbyville Road, just inside the Watterson, were dark. Kentucky Crafted This Weekend. It Must Be Spring!

Good news for “Buy Handmade” junkies like me. The first big arts and craft show of the year, Kentucky Crafted: The Market, opens to the public on Saturday & Sunday at the Kentucky Exposition Center, South Wing B. This indoor show, featuring 200 Kentucky Artisans was ranked the #1 Art Show in the country by American Style Magazine readers. The Kentucky Arts Council does an excellent job in producing this event. Not only will you see fabulous art from Kentucky artisans but you will have the opportunity to learn about Kentucky’s traditional arts of fiddling, banjo playing and basket making….

It so happens that Albrecht Stahmer, a UK grad who has been working with J. Bruce Miller on drumming up excitement about bringing the NBA to Louisville, lives in Tokyo. And many of his associates here are concerned about him.
