Returning to the Water Tower this weekend for its 14th annual iteration, the Blues-n-Barbecueue Festival purports to combine family fun with a healthy sampling of regional blues musicians and some delicious barbecue made right here in the Derby City.

As organized by Bisig Impact Group, the same folks behind the Water Tower’s annual Reggae Festival, this three-day event will take place this Friday (July 8th) through Sunday (July 10th). According to Bisig event Manager Jennifer Washle, “The annual Blues-N-Barbeque Festival has become a Louisville summer tradition. Each year the crowd grows larger and we’re excited to bring the south’s best music, food and fun back to the community.”

As mentioned previously, the festival kicks off at the Louisville Water Tower on River Road and Zorn Avenue on Friday, July 8th from 5:00 pm – 11:30 pm, continues Saturday from 4:00 p.m. – 11:30 pm, and wraps on Sunday from 1:00 pm– 7:00 pm. Admissions before 6:00 pm is $7, with passes rising to $10 after 6:00 pm and free admission for children under ten years old all day.

Highlights of the festival’s performers include Lexington blues staple (seriously, he has a night club named after him) Tee Dee Young and The Scandalous Band on Friday night, Louisville’s own Joe DeBow Band on Saturday night (see video below via Oshea’s Irish Pub) and Sunday night’s The Straycat Blues Band featuring Greg Martin & Lamont Gillispie. Authentic barbecue for the event will be provided by F.A.B.D. Smokehouse and The Q.
