Living in a “Drug Culture”

I have recently had some experiences that seem so odd for me – especially because others in our culture take it for granted. We live in the environment that believes (almost) everyone is on a (prescription) drug and has a preferred pharmacy. I’ll call it “the drug culture”. First experience with the “Drug Culture” A woman and I were passing a CVS and she asked, where do you go, CVS or Walgreens? I was confused. I responded by saying I rarely go in either and if I need something I just drop in whichever is convenient. She came back with…

Ballistic Nurse of the Year

The first weekend in June Louisville was host to the American Holistic Nurses Association’s 31st Annual Conference. A treat for our fair city, and for the nurses. They loved the trolley hop and many local restaurants serving good local food. So after they were fed, how ballistic were they? I don’t know about you but most of my experiences with nurses seems to be in a stressed out situation and they have too many things to do. So I can understand when the waitress thought she heard and then announced over the loudspeaker that they were celebrating the  “Ballistic Nurse…

Hope for People with Brain Disorders and Injuries

Our culture seems to be riddled with people experiencing alzheimers, ADD/ADHD, autism, and other disorders of the brain and nervous system. There seems to be few if any answers or people getting results. One of the few modalities getting results and giving us hope is BodyTalk, specifically results from The Family Hope Center. The Family Hope Center (FHC) located in Pennsylvania has a team of Child Brain Developmentalists that help parents heal their children with special needs. The founder, Matt Newell, is a Certified BodyTalk Practitioner. A statistic from their website: “Family Hope Center Receives Excellent Clinical Outcomes Score An independent…

“It’s the Environment, Stupid”

We all remember the Clintons and “It’s the Economy, Stupid”… and now many people have tuned in to understanding that everything, even the economy, is the environment. Let’s take this all a step sideways – because as you know I write about health and wellness – and understand how belief systems ARE the environment. Dr Bruce Lipton, biologist, quantum physicist and best selling author, explores the concept of beliefs factoring into biology in a way we pedestrians can understand in “The Biology of Belief”. He has since written the book “Spontaneous Evolution”. While I haven’t read it yet, the Q&A at…

Heart Centered Event!

In this town we host many leading edge events like the IdeaFest and Festival of Faiths. We are also blessed to have  the Festival of Healing and Spiritual Awareness organized by Virginia Gilpin from Bardstown, Ky. Before coming back to Louisville I don’t believe I ever attended this kind of event. I’ll admit I was a little skeptical. A good sense discernment is of great value. And now that I have “cased the joint” for you, I am saying “come on down!”. Many great offerings for sessions, readings and products. The line up of speakers and topics is outstanding –…

Energy of ALLOWING

Recently I was sent a link to an Awakening with the Masters teleconference call with Jo Dunning. Her powerful story inspired me to ask a question that has been helpful in expanding my awareness. Maybe it will help you also. Jo Dunning’s Journey She had always been curious about life and plants with a longing for knowing more. She learned a little bit about “everything” and felt she had the answers to life’s questions. But these “answers” were all from what she had read, from other people’s perspectives. She asked for a rapid change and the Universe provided it in…

****Review of “Maple and Vine”

What a grand opportunity – I got to see one of the great Humana Festival plays with a friend and then write about it. FUN! Thinking So by intermission I am asking myself and those around me – why is it I/we feel, in order to make a difference I need to make HUGE changes in my life, rather than incremental? Authentic The characters living the choices that 2011 offer – mixed marriage, good careers, take out dinners, movies on the laptop in bed – would seem to have it all. And they are unhappy. The last straw on the…
