Louisville, Ky., – First off, your welcome, Louisville Bats. Just by the Bentley Crew showing up, you were able to break a four game losing streak … at least that’s what we’re telling ourselves.
But, in all honestly, and at the risk of journalistic integrity, we had a great time at Sunday’s face off with the Toldeo Mud Hens — even up to the bitter end at the bottom of the 11th inning.
The weather was nice, the game was exciting and my kids were in good moods. What more could you ask for?
“They have a mac and cheese bar,” said Teenage SON #1 after he and his sister, Pre-teen Daughter #3 took a walk around Louisville Slugger Field.
“Wait, they have a mac and cheese bar!?” said Teenage Who-Shall-Remain-Constantly-Hungry-Boy #2.
“Yes, yes they do,” said Pre-Teen Daughter #3.
It was a moment of sibling solidarity brought on by the great family atmosphere at the ball game. It was a great start to a baseball season, we hope, to enjoy more as the season continues.
Bats spokesman Ryan Ritchey hopes more and more families choose a Bats game for their family bonding time.
“It’s pretty much of what we want to do—give them a family atmosphere at the ballpark of things that they can do both away from the game, and also watch the baseball game,” Ritchey said.
In addition to all Sundays having an Inflatable FunZone, Run the Bases and Kids Eat Free promotions, there’s also fireworks, Baseball Bingo, Superhero Night, Star Wars night and tons of other promotions during different games geared towards kids and their families.
As for the grown-ups, there’s Wine Tasting Nights, Margarita Monday, live music, and bobblehead giveaways to name a few.
