Shop for a Cause

Today is the kickoff for 3rd Annual ID+A Holiday Auction, benefiting Metro United Way.  You can see and bid on the baskets by clicking the link in the information below. 

Bidding will run from December 12 until 12:00 p.m. EST on December 16, 2011. The 3rd Annual ID+A Holiday Auction includes 7 gift baskets valued at over $150 each.  The themes are: UofK Tailgating, UofL Tailgating (do we sense a competition?), Holiday Tablescape, The “Touch” of the Holidays, Holiday Survival Kit, Holiday for the Hungry (donated to a Metro United Way family), and Christmas in the Commonwealth.  Bids are placed online at http://www.id-a.com/Auction/auction.html.  All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Metro United Way.  Tax Deduction forms will be available to the winners.

Metro United Way supports a powerful network of agencies and programs that provide the essentials of life every day, like food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless and protection from abuse.  In addition, they work to form and support partnerships among businesses, governments, neighborhoods, and other non-profits in order to make the maximum impact.

ID+A was established in 1981, ID+A is a growing full service interior solutions furniture dealership with a focus in these vertical markets: Commercial, Education, Healthcare and Government. ID+A’s focus on services and unique custom work environments provide our customers with healthful, sustainable and highly efficient places for their employees to work.

Angela Champion

Angela Champion is a Donor Relationship Manager for Metro United Way, responsible for workplace campaigns and creation of non-traditional sources of revenue including foundation relations and grantwriting. She also directs the Young Leaders Society, aimed at growing and engaging donors ages 40 and under. As a Volunteer, Angela currently serves as the chair of Done in a Day committee for the Junior League of Louisville which mobilizes volunteers for about 50 volunteer opportunities annually. She will serve as a JLL board member as Recording Secretary for 2011-2012. She is past Vice President of Community for YPAL (Young Professionals Association of Louisville) overseeing the areas of Public Issues, Community Outreach and Diversity and past Director of Public Issues. She is the past Executive Director of the Colon Cancer Prevention Project, where she led the way in public media outreach to increase colon cancer screenings in Louisville and Lexington. In 2008, Angela organized advocacy to pass HB 415, The Colon Cancer Screening Act. Most recently Angela brought funding to the state from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the Kentucky Dialogue for Action. She is a 2010 Bell Award Honored Volunteer, 2008 recipient of the Balderson Leadership Award from the National Public Health Leadership Development Network, and 2008 Kentucky Public Health Leadership Institute Fellow. A graduate of the University of Louisville, Angela holds a bachelor's degree in Arts in Anthropology and a master's degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Non-profit Management. Her favorite color is purple.

    This type of charity event is really a good initiative. Holidays are special days, when we should remember that we are humans and it is in our nature to help less fortunate people. Every single penny brings a smile and hope.
